Seattle the Emerald City is full of sightseeing, iconic sites, history, restaurants and many more things. This place is called Emerald City because its full of greenery with so many trees throughout and spectacular views. Seattle is the largest city in Washington and home of many big tech companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Google etc. If you are planning to visit Seattle below is the list of places which might interest you..

Seattle Great Wheel and aquarium

Seattle great wheel is the must place to visit while travelling to Seattle. You can see the entire city from this giant wheel and admire the beauty of it in your own pod without much bothered about rain(as it is mostly raining). It is generally crowded on weekends so if you don’t mind spending 10-15 minutes in line, go little early. This place is generally little cold and windy as its near sea. Seattle aquarium is just next to the giant wheel. This is relatively small aquarium but could be exciting if visiting for the first time. They have big octopus, seal and other different type of fishes.

Pike place market

Pike place market is very famous tourist destination in Seattle and a must visit. This is walk able distance from the giant wheel. This place has lot of stuff from eateries to whine shops to flower shops and local artists. You can grab a snack and sit near bay to enjoy the sea side view. You will find world’s first Star bucks in Pike place market and it is always crowded with coffee lovers. You will get fresh fishes and other sea food here. You can reserve close to half an hour to visit this complete place.

Space Needle and Chihuly Garden

Space needle was built in 1962 (close to 600 ft tall) for World fairs but this still looks so impressive. It is one of best sites of US and it should be in one’s must visit bucket list. Go on the top of the space needle and see the sites, its amazingly breath taking.  You can buy the tickets of Chihuly Glass garden and space needle together which is little cheaper than individual tickets.  Chihuly garden is an amazing display of glass from both interior and exterior view. If you are art admirer , must visit this place.

Snowqualmie Falls

Mumbai also known as “Bombay” – The city of dreamers. Mumbai is a hub of beggars ,millionaires,  strugglers, top Bollywood stars, Bombay Stock Exchange, fashion industry , Biggest slum, Outdoor bargain markets and so many other things. I believe I can safely say Mumbai is LA of India. So what as a tourist one can expect in such an ambitious city, Let’s explore the places which you can visit while travelling to Mumbai….

Bandra- Worli Sea Link

Bandra Worli sea link is an amazing stretch between western suburbs and Mumbai’s central business district. The view around this pure delight to the sight. Driving on Badra-worli link is good experience although it passes very quickly but it is worth giving a shot as this is first cable stayed bridge in India and architecture is really to be admired.

Shree Siddhivinayak

This place is must to visit for Ganesha devotees as this is one of very famous Ganpathi Temple in India. This place is always full with thousand of devotees. Indeed when you visit this place you get the positive vibrations. The Idol of Lord Ganesh in the Garbagudi is eye catching and it is believed that this has the power to fulfill wishes of all the people visiting. As this heavily crowded place, try to visit the temple early morning or early evenings. We were lucky to not find much queue when we visited around 4:30 PM in evening.

Marine Drive

This is the famous sit out place in Mumbai and this is called “Queens Necklace” due to its shape. If you want to enjoy sea view and peaceful time in such a fast city , just go there and sit for at least half an hour and you will feel close to nature. The water looks so much better there. You should visit this place specially at night. If you walk towards Nariman point area , you can see Malabar hills on other side.

Gateway of India

The Gateway of India is monument building built during 20th century. If you want to see and appreciate the colonial history of Mumbai then must visit this place. This place is full of tourists and localities all the time. This is just seconds away from Taj Mahal Palace Hotel which is famous not only because of its elegance and beauty but reminds every Indian of the deadly terror attack happened on 26/11. You may get irritated by photographers there as they constant press you for taking pictures there.

Chowpatty Beach

Chowpatty beach is very famous amongst Indians mainly because this is beach most talked about in Bollywood movies and famous for eating chaats there. I was little disappointed going to Chowpatty beach as the water was very dirty so I wont suggest to visit this beach for swimming purpose. But again if you are chaat lover and want to have picnic with your family then this is the place.

Fashion Street

If you want to go away from the malls and online shopping and to revive the old street shopping pleasure than you must visit Fashion street. You can find same product on different prices in this street , so you must have good bargaining skills to find the right product at right price here.

This is just a small list of places to visit in Mumbai, please add if I have missed any must visit place in the comments….

Planning a trip to LA–Checkout must visit places

Los Angeles is a not only Hollywood city but much like a fantasy land. In LA, you can find mix of the all the pleasures one may want to enjoy while traveling. If you are Hollywood fan you have plenty of places like Universal Studios ,Warner bros studio tour, from theaters to museum to walk of fame, you will be dazzled with this city full of stars. If you want to enjoy ,their are so many world’s best beaches like Santa Monica, El Sol beach etc. You can enjoy all type of cuisines in the city from Native American, to Chinese, to Thai , to Indian. This is also a shoppers paradise. So Let’s see how we can plan a trip to visit all the famous places we should not miss at all. Here is the list of places:

Universal Studios

Univ Studios

If you are travelling to LA for the first time, you should visit Universal Studios Hollywood. Visiting Universal studios is all about Harry Potter mainly as that is the first attraction of Hollywood studios. Harry potter rides are heavily crowded always and expect almost half an hour wait time for your turn if you are planning to go on weekend. Apart from Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, The mummy, Transformers were good rides and less crowded comparatively. We can purchase tickets online from Universal Studios website or can buy over the counter as well. Weekday ticket is around $105 per person for normal entry, they do provide VIP day passes also which are close to $400 per person. If you are on budget travel and going for 3 or 4 days to LA , my suggestion would be buy 4 day “Go-City card” from Costco which will cost you around $200 and covers all the places in LA. The only condition is you have to visit Universal studios on Weekday with Go-City card.

Madame Tussaud’s Hollywood

Who does not know about Madame Tussaud’s wax statues. You can find real life-like wax statues of your favorite celebrities. You will find all type of stars in Madame Tussaud from Hollywood to great politicians to sports legends. You can enjoy carefree time hanging out and posing with Hollywood stars. Don’t forget to bring camera while visiting. Ticket Price for museum is $30.95 per person but this attraction is included in Go-City pass. If you have purchased pass just show the pass in your mobile and they will let you go in.
Note: Bollywood lovers may get disappointed as there are no Bollywood stars in LA Madame Tussaud.

TCL Chinese Theater and DOLBY Theater Guided Tour

Both attractions are just next to each other. TCL Chinese theater has powered red carpet movie premiers and special events attended by Hollywood’s biggest and brightest celebrities. Cost of VIP ticket is $15 for Chinese Theater. Dolby Theater was excellent if you have interest in learning about Hollywood Academy awards history. You can go for the guided tour where they give you in depth history and tour of Academy awards. This is not really for small children as the history may sound boring to them. Ticket cost is $23 per person and their show timings vary. We had to go 2nd day as on first day last tour was organized at 1:00 PM so plan accordingly.

Griffith Observatory:

The Observatory was a great place to visit in evening time to see the lights – it was unbelievable. You can opt for guided tour also but we just went their to enjoy the sight of Hollywood sign and observatory. Also to see complete LA. It is free unless you want to go up viewing the deck of observatory. Currently parking is free but they are installing pay and park machines.

Warner Bros Studio Tour:

We went to Warner Bros Studio Tour on Sunday. There are both plus and minus on visiting the studios on Sunday as they will show you most of the areas which generally are closed due to ongoing shootings but there are no shootings happening on Sunday, minus is you will not have chance to see stars :p . When we went to Warner Bros studio awe did not really know what to expect from the tour. This tour was all about seeing and understanding how movies/serials are shot, you get to see real sets where currently shoots are happening. They tell you all the tricks and techniques used in making movies/serials. You can almost take pictures everywhere except the areas where current episodes are getting shot. Ticket cost for studio tour was $60 per person (They don’t allow children on trip I think below 8 years:( )So plan accordingly. This is also included in Go-City pass.

Santa Monica Pier/Beach

There are so many beaches in LA but I believe Santa Monica beach s pretty famous. On this beach , you will find 3 parts. One where people generally take bike on rental and ride along the beach. Second is Amusement park for children and third is where you enjoy beach. This beach is generally pretty crowded and not for people who don’t enjoy many people around. There are other beaches also in LA. We went to Dockweiler Beach which was not very crowded but it was near Airport so plan noise may get irritating at times.

Spirit Airlines…Is it really that Cheap or its all a myth?? Share you experiences!

Spirit’s LOGO – “less money more go”, but is it really worth it.

I want to share my travel experience with Spirit airlines. When I tried to search low fare airlines in US , the first airlines which I guess most of us encounter and rather book without knowing “hidden charges” is Spirit Airlines. Not only me but many of my friends whom I had asked about their first travels say the same that they had booked Spirit Airlines for their first travels. If I jot down , below are the total charges I had to bear travelling through Spirit Airlines last week to Los Angeles along with flight experience..

  • I bought tickets from Expedia.com, which costed me around $205 for round trip for 2 , but this is a bare minimum fare for Spirits i.e. just you and your laptop bag/handbag(with some dimension restrictions) nothing else.
  • I had to pay $80+taxes round trip for checked bag because $45 is for carry bag with some dimensions restrictions and $40 is checked bag. $80 just for 1 bag seems much and unnecessary.
  •  Apart from cost which is not at all cheap btw, Most discomfort that the seats are not recline …grr (Also they don’t give free water which all the flights I have traveled so far gives :p)
  • If you forget to do check-in at before and try to get it at counter , you need to pay $10 per person extra. Or if you want to save it, do self check in at KIOSK which is generally very crowded 😦

Now looking at all these points if you have more luggage or you need to travel with comfort Spirit is definitely not the airline you should choose.

But lets not be biased and try to think why in first place somebody choose this airline and how it can be beneficial :

  • It is good if you have to travel for short distance and you don’t carry more than a laptop bag in each travel
  • They run promotions on their websites and some times you can get bare minimum ticket in just $28 each sides which is quite cheap
  • They run promotion in their flight, every time a person generally in middle seats like from 15-17(my observation…may be those are the highest paid tickets) gets some miles for which you get round trip ticket free

All in all BIG NO for family trips with this airline. But as famous saying goes ” YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR”. Choose carefully, set your priorities before flying…And share your experience if any such kind with me …. Enjoy the article.

Planning a day trip to snowqualmie Falls, WA— Read this–2

This is the post excerpt.

IMG-20170320-WA0064History of Snoqualmie Falls is a 268 ft (82 m) waterfall on the Snoqualmie River between Snoqualmie and Fall City, Washington, United States. It is one of Washington’s most popular scenic attractions, but is perhaps best known internationally for its appearance in the cult television series Twin Peaks. More than 1.5 million visitors come to the Falls every year, where there is a two-acre (0.8 ha) park, an observation deck, and a gift shop.

Beautiful scenery and spectacular water falls. It is perfect Pacific Northwest pristine beauty. This place speaks for itself. This was a great day trip from the Seattle area. The falls were spectacular and just above the falls lies a spa and resort type hotel with a nice restaurant. A short hike from the top will take you down to the base of the falls for some nice views along a boardwalk.

It is less than an hour drive from Seattle. There is big parking space available for free. The viewpoints near the top of the falls are often packed but if you reach there early morning you may be lucky to have fewer people there. It was mist all around the place so you need to be careful with your cameras if it is not water proof.
There is lower part of falls also where one side you have access to river i.e. you can sit on stones near the river , get the pictures clicked 🙂 The other side is boardwalk for the view and no river access. You should cover both the sides as each of it has its own beauty.

Wear hiking shoes and comfortable clothes for the visit and make the half mike hike to the river . It was steep but well worth the time, views from the river are wonderful. Plenty of room at the rivers edge to get a great view of the falls. There is a restroom and drinking water facility in lower half of the falls.

This is a lovely picnic spot for families as you can bring your own food and have family lunch near the falls. There is small coffee/gift shop near the falls also where you can have a sip of coffee and enjoy nature
